50th Anniversary Celebration
The Northwest Vintage Radio Society held a 50th Anniversary Celebration on
Saturday, January 18th, 2025
at The Monarch Hotel
in Clackamas, Oregon
NWVRS member, author and historian Ronald Kramer spoke for our celebration and he demonstrated KGW’s NBC Chimes. He gave out free copies of his book, “Pioneer Mikes,” to members and guests.
The original Northwest Vintage Radio Society banner ordered from Elmer’s Flag and Banner in 1976.
Several NWVRS logo plaques were made throughout the years, two on metal and one on wood. Mugs with the NWVRS logo were made as well as a button pinback. Also, President Tom James made a custom wooden gavel in 1977 that resembled an 01A tube with a handle.
Several KGW items were displayed, including an original KGW banner for remote broadcasts, a “cathedral” microphone as well as a “lollipop” microphone.
Also on display were a KEX microphone and another microphone with a blank flag.
Several radio station swag items were displayed.
Several photos and memorabilia relating to radio pioneer Joe Hallock were displayed including a Hallock & Watson RF-22 receiver.
Another exhibit had a photo and memorabilia relating to radio pioneer Charles Austin was displayed including a NORCO SR-14 battery receiver.
